Active Warrant Search in Passaic County, New Jersey
Under New Jersey law, warrants for Passaic County may be available to the public in certain situations under the New Jersey Open Records Act (OPRA). Although the act establishes that government records, including those from under law enforcement, are public, warrant information is not always accessible in one centralized database. New Jersey law exempts certain criminal investigatory records from public access while the case is still ongoing under Section 47:1A-9. As a result, active warrants are typically restricted from public access until they have been executed, and an arrest has been made or processed by the court.
When requesting access to warrant information, record seekers may provide the following search criteria to identify the warrant.
- The full name of the subject of the warrant (including any known aliases)
- Date of birth
- Case number or docket number
- Complaint number
